Evi Wezenbeek graduated in 2009 as a Master in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy at Ghent University. After this, she started working as a sports physiotherapist and as an injury prevention trainer for athletes. In 2013 she started her PhD on risk factors in the development of Achilles tendinopathy in athletes with Prof Erik Witvrouw as her promotor. She is currently employed as a postdoctoral researcher at UGent, where she combines research with teaching courses in physiotherapy and sports medicine. She is part of the IIPRU (Injury and Illness Prevention Research Unit) and her research is mainly focused on the prediction of injuries in elite soccer players.
